Is there a free version of mSecure?

No, mSecure is a premium-only password manager. However, you can get a 30-day free trial which lets you access all premium mSecure features. Despite being a premium-only password manager, mSecure is fairly basic in terms of its features. There are some alternatives like Dashlane and 1Password that offer free trials with lots of advanced features — 2FA, breach monitoring, emergency access, comprehensive password auditing, and more.

How secure is mSecure app?

mSecure uses industry-standard 256-bit AES encryption to secure passwords. All encryption takes place locally on your device, which makes your account and your saved information very secure from potential threats. Unfortunately, mSecure doesn’t offer 2FA to add extra layers of security to your account. This means that if your master password is correctly guessed by a hacker, you can potentially lose all of your data and your passwords can get exposed. While the core mSecure app is pretty secure, it doesn’t offer advanced security for risks that can be averted by 2FA. If you want the best security for your password database, I recommend 1Password instead.

Does mSecure generate passwords?

Yes, mSecure can generate fairly strong passwords for you. The password generator allows you to choose the length and the type of character you’d like to include in your password. mSecure can also generate word-based passwords, which can have up to 8 very unusual words that are difficult to guess. One problem with mSecure’s password generator is that it’s only accessible from its main apps. That means you can’t generate passwords within your browser window while you’re changing a password or creating a new account on a website. But my favorite password manager — 1Password — works great from browsers, allowing you to quickly generate new passwords on the go.

Good password manager; some problems with autofill, FaceID, TouchID, support

I’ve learned: support is substandard. I’ve learned *my own* troubleshooting and bypasses. Live and learn. Been using mSecure for many years (enpass veteran, I won’t bother to migrate yet again). Biometrics and their failure are flakey (in spite of what “support” says). Autofill on accounts with multiple userids (e.g., my 3 Gmail accounts) is entirely flakey. Otherwise (except during major OS updates) mostly acceptable

Its saving grace: one-time purchase

Used many years. Many needed features promised in next release (teased “in beta” for several years). Troubleshooting? Learn to DIY. A tolerable password manager, somewhat better than Apple’s “Keychain”. Subscription models aren’t our ideal…yet.

Had msecure 4. Wouldnt work with upgraded ios. But then found i could download msecure 5.5 free and then put msecure 4 into msecure 5 and reaccess my passwords. But it wasn’t easy to find this out.

Used to be a fantastic password manager

I had just paid for mSecure Pro v5 less then a year prior. They then decided to go into a subscription model and auto-upgraded you to v6 version and moved some of the features that were just purchased in v5 to be under their subscription v6.
Additionally, they made the interface more convoluted, dense and hard to navigate which was a major turn off. The nail in the coffin for me is their snarky attitude on their forum when addressing complaints and issues about auto-upgrading users to v6.
It's sad to see a quality product be mismanaged into a clunky product that I never recommend anymore and abandoning myself.

Used to be great, now just sucks!

I have used mSecure ever since 3.x, They recently went to a subscription model, and forced paid users into new subscription payments. They have so many features that are half-baked it's just to complicated to actually use.

Latest version of msecure is unusable

I have been using msecure for over 12 years. Up through version 4, it was great. Then my wife's Mac went to 64 bit and needed v5. V5 is my opinion a disaster. Classic example of making a product idiot proof, so that its only useful for idiots.
Searching that took a few clicks now takes a few dozen. Things that used to be simple, like starting a new file, moving a file from one computer to another are virtually impossible. The windows version requires going through the Microsoft store, which is incompatible with my Windows install. The Android version lost the ability to expand just the 'A' passwords, then the 'B' etc. .
And the company is particularly unhelpful in addressing any of those issues.

I can't access my msecure 4 data after I updated to IOS 14.5. The msecure support "team" is not helping at all. I used to log into msecure with my thumb print. That doesn't work when trying to import the version 4 data into versio...Toon meer

Secure was altijd een goede paswoord-manager. Na het betalen van de pro-licentie, kon je al je devices laten syncen met elkaar. Na de update V6, moet je nu jaarlijks gaan betalen voor deze optie. Dit is voor mij geen optie. Apple heeft het automatisch inzicht.
